Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren unveils the restored Samumakhong statue at Khwairamband in Imphal
Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren today unveiled the restored Historic Statue of Maharaja Bheigyachandra and Elephant (Samumakhong statue) at Khwairamband, Imphal and handed over to the public. Speaking on the sideline, N. Biren stressed that is the duty of one and all to preserve and protect places which are associated with History. He maintained that the Statues have been restored in a way that Tourists will understand our history. The Chief Minister also said that discussion are on for beautification of Thong Nambonbi, which is a State Archaelogical Site. N. Biren maintained that Manipur is possibly one of the venues for the G20 Summit in February next year. He stressed on taking it as an opportunity to push the State to progress.
